Exploring Your Homeschool Options
This presentation discusses the variety of options you can use in the set up of your homeschool. We discuss charter programs, private homeschool programs and complete independence. We also cover the many different curriculum choices available and how to determine which one is best for you and your family.
The Homeschool Classroom
This topic takes a look at breaking the traditional view of what a classroom should look like. We help the listener understand that the learning process is more important than how or where your schoolroom is. The homeschooling classroom can be anywhere and anytime. Think out of the box and have fun!
Choosing A Homeschool Schedule
Do you school from 8:30 to 3:30? Is the school year from September to June? Do you use a year-round schedule? When do you take your yearly breaks? We answer these questions and help attendees to understand how to choose what schedule works best for their family.
Getting Started With Homeschooling
This presentation is a more general discussion of the three previous topics. It is more of a three part workshop.
Your Child's Learning Style & How to Teach Accordingly:
This is a very important topic for all who are thinking of starting or are currently homeschooling. We must understand how the brain learns. Are your children auditory, visual or kinesthetic learners? In this portion we help parents to try to identify their children's learning preference.
Boy Or Girl, Is The Method Different?
Did you know that the left side of a little girl's brain is more developed at birth than that of a little boy's? Do you fully understand the difference in the male and female brain? Do you know how to teach with this in mind? This presentation will help the attendee understand, appreciate and adjust accordingly.
The Homeschooling Brain:
This presentation takes in the previous two topics and builds on them by including the explanation of our innate brain gifts and weaknesses. This is interesting and powerful information that will prove to be invaluable to all parents that choose to apply the knowledge gained. Understanding the differences can help us nurture the brain of each child individually. This is a longer presentation due to the large amount of information shared. However, an abbreviated version can also be presented.
Can Traditional Schools Make My Child Ill?
Of course the obvious answer is yes. Schools are a hot bed of germs. But what most people don't know is that the portion of the brain that controls the immune system also controls the emotions. If our children are unhappy and miserable in a traditional school, this can suppress their immune system. This leaves them more vulnerable to everything from simple cold viruses to serious illnesses. This presentation explains the emotion/immune connection and explains how to apply it in your life.
Tests, Tests, and More Tests:
This is a look at the reason why the way they test in traditional schools is an inadequate way of evaluating our children's intellect. We help our attendees to understand how the introversion/extroversion level of their children will affect their performance on tests. We explore other ways of evaluating children' progress without stressing out little brains.
Making the Grade:
Here we wrap in some of the information from "The Homeshcooling Brain" presentation. This will help the attendees to understand why some children excel in some subjects but have a difficult time in others. Why a "C" for some children is the same as an "A" for others.
The Benefits of Homeschooling:
In this presentation we cover the main benefits of homeschooling: the reasons why it is a better choice to school our children at home than send them to a traditional school. Attendees who are considering homeschooling will leave with a good picture of the wonderful benefits of this choice. Established homeschooling parents will have their conviction to continue renewed.
Enjoying Your Homeschooling Journey:
This presentation takes a look at some of the obstacles we homeschoolers come up against and how to overcome them. We remind attendees of the reasons they started this journey in the first place. They will come away empowered to continue on the greatest trip they could ever take.
Taking Care of Mom:
If you are a homeschooling Mom (or Dad), you need to hear this! Homeschooling can be stressful for parents. This presentation will explore the different stress factors homeschooling parents face, as well as practical ways to deal with them.
